History Redesign

  • To modernize the Rocketbook App and encourage users to use more of the app, the main History screen needed to be revamped. This included reimagining scan thumbnails, updating iconography, and reorganizing menus.

  • I sent a survey to a select group of Rocketbook users to better understand their opinions on the History screen. The most difficult task was narrowing down what our team would be capable of implementing. I translated this feedback into various designs for a new History screen, which was tested with prototypes in person.

  • The new History screen saw much more activity after it was published. Users were excited to use features that were not as easily accessible previously.

What Needed to Change?

Rocketbook users felt that the History Screen was full of unnecessary icons and information that made it more difficult to review their notes. In comparison to the other Cloud Storage apps they were using daily, the Rocketbook App looked and felt outdated. We needed to update menus and iconography, add colors, and allow the use of gestures for a more delightful experience.

The New History Screen

The History Screen received a new UI that completely modernized the app. In a follow-up survey, users said the History Screen felt more “usable” and were happy to see features they previously didn’t know existed. In addition to a new UI for the History Screen, I redesigned the initial Review Screen that a user would see after scanning.
